Fire Add Depth and Experience to Defense

The Gulf Coast Fire have remained busy this offseason, the newly formed team continues to add experienced players to the 2019 training camp roster.  The team is proud to announce the signing of 2 players,  defensive back Mike Carey and defensive lineman Kendoll Gibson.

Mike Carey  6’1” 185 DB (Concord)

Mike is a versatile player that can produce on both sides of the ball.  Over the last several years he has played primarily Defensive Back but with the new “Duece” rule that requires two active players to play both offense and defense he will be able to showcase his WR talents as well.  Carey played for the Florida Tarpons in 2016 and 2017 and last season with the Richmond Roughriders of the AAL.

Kendoll Gibson DL 6’1” 285 (Walsh)

Gibson is a very athletic DL that can play all 3 spots up front.  Defensive Coordinator Roy Stabler says, “In order for the defense to be successful we must be able to apply pressure to opposing qb’s and that starts right up the middle.”  “I am familiar with his ability having played semi-pro locally and knew that this was a guy that we needed to go after.”
