Fire Add Four Players from A-League Combine

ESTERO, FL  -  The Gulf Coast Fire have signed four players from last weekends A-League combine that was held in Cape Coral.  Johnell Barnes, Collin Saring, Josh Cole, and Vinton Lewis, were among the players signed.

Wide Receiver Johnell Barnes is a Fort Myers native having graduated from Dunbar High School.  He dazzled at the first ever A-League combine and caught the attention of several coaches include Fire Head Coach Brent Burnside.  After high school Barnes attended Duke and played in 35 games, caught 72 passes for 865 yards, and three touchdowns.  He also returned 15 kickoffs for 355 yards.

Quarterback Collin Saring is no stranger to the indoor game.  Collin was signed by the Tarpons following an open tryout in 2015 and was a member of the 2015 Florida Tarpons championship team.  He is a versatile player that can contribute at multiple positions.  Collin attended Webber International where he played quarterback.  Collin has faced much adversity during the summer between his Sophomore and Junior seasons at Webber, as he spent 9 days in a coma due to a brain infection, and had to relearn basic skills.

Linebacker Josh Cole will be entering his 3rd full season of professional football.  He can play multiple positions on the defensive side of the ball including linebacker, and defensive line, on offense he can contribute at the fullback position.  Josh resides nearby in Punta Gorda, FL.

Defensive Back Vinton Lewis will be entering his rookie season with the Fire.   He proved to be one of the fastest and most versatile players at the A-League combine.  Lewis is a recent graduate of Florida International where he was a member of the track team.  He graduated from Moore Haven High School, and is an assistant football coach alongside coach Burnside at Moore Haven.

Expect to see more players signed from the league combine over the next two months, as teams continue to build their rosters.
